About This Access Site
Big Meadow Lake Campground offers a primitive boat ramp suitable for non-motorized boats, making it an ideal launch point for kayakers and canoeists. The facility includes an accessible dock, carry-down access, and a fishing dock for easy water entry. Located near Ione in Pend Oreille County, the campground sits within the Colville National Forest and features 16 campsites with interpretive trails and a scenic viewing platform overlooking the lake.

Be aware that Big Meadow Lake is relatively shallow and heavily vegetated with milfoil, which may affect paddling in some areas but creates excellent wildlife habitat. The lake is popular for wildlife viewing, including loons, ducks, and occasional eagles. The campground offers vault toilets and campsites (some with lake views), but lacks drinking water. For reservations and additional information, contact Recreation.gov or call 509-446-7500. The access is located approximately 90 miles north of Spokane, just east of the Ione Bridge crossing the Pend Oreille River.
