About This Access Site
The Big Meadows Reservoir Boating Site offers paddlers and boaters a convenient access point to the 600-acre Big Meadows Reservoir on the South Fork Rio Grande in southern Colorado. The reservoir is located between South Fork and Pagosa Springs, along State Highway 160 near Wolf Creek Pass.

The site features a small boat ramp, restroom, and parking lot. Motorboats are allowed but must control excessive wakes. Canoes, kayaks, and float tubes can also access the water here. An official Colorado State Wildlife Area pass or valid hunting/fishing license is required for visitors aged 16 and older.

In the winter, the reservoir can be accessed by snowmobile or cross-country skis along Big Meadows Road for ice fishing opportunities. Nearby campgrounds include West Fork Campground and Big Meadows Reservoir Campground, both of which are reservable. Boaters and paddlers can enjoy the scenic high-mountain setting and wildlife viewing opportunities around the reservoir.
