About This Access Site
Big Muskellunge Lake is a 897-acre lake in Vilas County offering a rustic public boat landing located 0.2 miles west of the Big Muskellunge Campground entrance on Big Muskellunge Lake Road. The ramp accommodates trailer turnaround and provides convenient access to this popular fishing and paddling destination. With a maximum depth of 70 feet, the lake supports healthy populations of musky, panfish, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike, and walleye.
For paddlers, the bay area in front of the group camp is an excellent sheltered paddling zone for kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboarding on calmer days. The campground's central location between Sayner and Boulder Junction makes it a practical base for exploring the broader Northwoods region. Check local wind conditions before launching, as conditions on this larger lake can change quickly.
