About This Access Site
Big Sandy Reservoir is a 2,146-acre lake located near Farson in Sublette County, Wyoming, offering free public access for boating and water recreation. The Little Sandy Crossing boat ramp provides a convenient launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The site is ADA accessible and offers primitive camping facilities at no charge, making it an affordable option for multi-day paddling trips. The area is managed by the Bureau of Reclamation with primitive facilities and no on-site manager, so visitors should come prepared and use the area at their own risk.

To reach the access point, travel east on State Highway 28 from Farson approximately 7 miles, then north on County Road 4-10 for 5 miles, and finally east on the Little Sandy Crossing access road for 1 mile. The site allows up to 14-day stays and features multiple campground loops, including a smaller loop directly at the boat ramp. No reservations are required, and there are no launching fees. The reservoir is surrounded by scenic Wyoming landscape and provides good opportunities for fishing as well as paddling.
