The Birds Bridge boat ramp on the Nolichucky River in Greeneville, Tennessee provides an excellent access point for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorized boats. The Nolichucky is a scenic, Class I river that offers a pleasant paddle through a rural, wooded environment.
The boat ramp is well-maintained and provides a stable, gently sloping entry into the river. Ample parking is available nearby. Two reservable campgrounds, Old Forge and Paint Creek, are located within 10 miles of the site, making it a convenient spot for day trips or overnight excursions. The river at this location is approximately 200 feet wide with a moderate current, making it suitable for beginner to intermediate paddlers.
Visitors should be aware that the Nolichucky Wildlife Management Area, which the river flows through, is primarily accessible by boat. There are no roads within the WMA, so the boat ramps at Birds Bridge and nearby Kinser Park are the primary put-in and take-out points. Paddlers and boaters should plan accordingly and pack any necessary gear for their time on the water.
