About This Access Site
Black Canyon Lake offers a convenient boat ramp access point for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorized boats. The lake is located in scenic Navajo County, Arizona, and is accessible via Forest Road 86.

The boat ramp provides direct access to the 78-acre Black Canyon Lake, which is known for its excellent trout fishing opportunities throughout the spring, summer, and fall. Anglers can target rainbow trout as well as large largemouth bass in the well-stocked lake. While the boat ramp is free to use, there are nearby fee-based campgrounds like Gentry Campground just 2 miles down Forest Road 300 that offer additional amenities.

Paddlers and boaters should be aware that the entire Black Canyon area was heavily impacted by the 2002 Rodeo-Chediski fire, so the landscape may appear different than historical photos. Nonetheless, Black Canyon Lake remains a popular destination for outdoor recreation on the water.
