Black Canyon Park

**Location & Access**
Black Canyon Park is a developed public boat launch located northeast of Emmett in Gem County, Idaho, on the Black Canyon Reservoir section of the Payette River. The site features a concrete boat ramp, gravel parking area, and restroom facilities, making it a convenient access point for boaters and paddlers.

**Amenities & Recreation**
This full-service recreation area offers camping (reservations available at 208-365-2682), picnic tables, and parking. The site serves as both a launch and take-out point for paddlers exploring the Payette River. The reservoir section provides calmer water suitable for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing compared to upstream sections of the river. Nearby, the Montour Wildlife/Recreation Management Area offers additional recreational opportunities.

**Planning Your Trip**
The Black Canyon ramp is ideal for launching kayaks and canoes for reservoir paddling or as a take-out point for multi-day Payette River trips. Note that other launches on the upper Payette (such as near Horseshoe Bend) may have challenging approaches with steep ramps and swift currents. Plan your shuttle accordingly if doing a longer river run.
