About This Access Site
Black Creek Lake is a small, 35-acre impoundment in Wise County near Alvord that offers calm water conditions ideal for kayaking and canoeing. The recreation area features a concrete boat ramp with 10 dedicated parking spaces, making it convenient for launching small watercraft. The sheltered nature of the lake means windy conditions are typically minimal, providing excellent paddling opportunities for all skill levels.

The facility operates on a first-come, first-served basis year-round, with 11 walk-in campsites located near the boat ramp parking area and 14 total campsites available throughout the campground. Access is straightforward from Decatur: take US Highway 81/287 north about 4.5 miles, then follow Wise County roads 2175, Old Decatur Road, and 2372 to reach the recreation area. Payment for campsites can be made on-site, with the option to use Recreation.gov's mobile app if the Scan and Pay feature is available.

Black Creek Lake Campground has 14 campsites and is open year-round. Black Creek Lake is a 35 acre lake with a concrete boat ramp for access.
Facilities
Located on the north shore of the 35-acre Black Creek Lake, Black Creek Recreation Area has a picnic area and boat launch facility. The area also has walk-in camping sites available.
