Located in Erwin Township, Gogebic County, this boating access site offers two convenient boat ramps—one on the north end and one on the south end of Black River Lake. The improved launch ramps accommodate most trailered watercraft and charge a $7 fee for ramp access. A free non-motorized carry-in launching area is also available; to reach it, follow Dyckman Avenue to the park entrance and look for the large willow tree on the riverbank. Parking outside the pay gate is free.
This access point serves as an excellent gateway to Black River Lake and connects paddlers to the scenic Black River system, which features a series of picturesque waterfalls as it descends toward Lake Superior. The river's distinctive dark color comes from tannin released by hemlock trees in the watershed. Whether you're launching a motorized boat, canoe, or kayak, this site provides reliable access to excellent fishing and paddling opportunities in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
