About This Access Site
Blue Springs Lake is a 720-acre recreational lake located southeast of Kansas City in Lee's Summit, Missouri. The Woods Chapel Road boat ramp on the lake's southeast corner offers a convenient launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and small boats. This single-lane concrete ramp with gravel parking is specifically designated for non-motorized and small watercraft, making it an ideal access point for paddlers. Note that a Jackson County permit is required to launch, so plan accordingly before your visit.

The lake offers a scenic paddling environment with multiple recreation amenities nearby, including a public swimming beach, six picnic shelters, and primitive biking and hiking trails. Recent habitat improvements—brush piles added in spring 2024 near the dam—may enhance wildlife viewing opportunities during your paddle. Longview Lake, another 930-acre recreation area, is located nearby if you're interested in exploring additional paddling options in the greater Kansas City area.
