About This Access Site
Located on the Strait of Juan de Fuca in Port Angeles, Boat Haven East offers a well-maintained public boat launch capable of accommodating vessels up to 50 feet. This is an excellent access point for kayakers and boaters seeking to explore the Strait and venture toward the Pacific Ocean—the harbor provides closer ocean access than any other Puget Sound port. The facility includes a 24/7 pump-out station and direct access to the Olympic Discovery Trail, a 25-mile asphalt path ideal for pre- or post-paddle recreation.

The surrounding Port Angeles Boat Haven features full-service amenities including moorage, fuel, and on-site US Customs services, making it convenient for longer trips or international cruising. For paddlers specifically, the protected harbor waters provide good conditions for launching and exploring, while the Strait itself offers exposure to stronger currents and tidal flows typical of this waterway. Heart O' the Hills Campground, located nearby off Hurricane Ridge Road, offers a nearby camping option for extended stays. Contact (360) 565-3130 for current facility information.
