Bone Lake

**Location & Access:** This public boat launch is located at the northwest corner of Bone Lake near Scandia in Washington County, Minnesota. The access is owned by Washington County and operated by DNR Parks and Trails, making it an official public facility suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorboats.

**Conditions & Facilities:** While the access is small, it is well-suited for the lake's character and provides reliable launching capability. Bone Lake is located within the Superior National Forest area and connects to Bone Creek. Before departing, paddlers should inspect and remove any aquatic plants from their boat, equipment, and trailer to prevent the spread of invasive species. The lake has experienced vegetation growth that can affect fishing and paddling, particularly later in the summer months.

**Lake Management:** Be aware that Bone Lake has special management structures (inlet and outlet controls) designed to reduce Common Carp populations and improve water quality over time. These structures may affect water levels and flow conditions seasonally. Walleye fishing can be good at times, making this a popular destination for anglers as well as paddlers.
