Bowers Beach offers a state-maintained triple boat ramp providing direct access to the Murderkill River and Delaware Bay. Located in Frederica near the river's mouth, this facility features ample parking suitable for both boat trailers and beach visitors, making it a convenient launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The ramp is situated at the public pier on the left bank of the river, approximately 500 feet upstream from where the Murderkill meets the bay.
The Murderkill River flows northeast through Kent County from its origin west of Felton, serving as a navigational channel with a drainage area of 104 square miles. Paddlers can explore freshwater sections upstream or venture into the Delaware Bay's tidal waters and salt marshes downstream. The area provides access to the scenic Delaware coast and is surrounded by significant natural areas, including the nearby Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge and Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve, both offering excellent paddling and wildlife viewing opportunities.
