About This Access Site
The Bowstring Lake Landing provides concrete ramp access to the 9,528-acre Bowstring Lake on its northwest shore, located approximately 14 miles northwest of Deer River off County Road 14 near State Highway 6. This is one of three public access points around the lake, making it convenient for paddlers and boaters launching from the northern section. The large lake size accommodates various watercraft, from modest-sized boats to kayaks and canoes.

Bowstring Lake is well-regarded for fishing opportunities, with healthy populations of walleye, bass, crappie, and panfish. The lake features varied structure and cover throughout its basin. Paddlers should note that the south end and northeast corner of the lake have the most developed launch facilities if you're comparing access points. Cut Foot Horse Campground is available nearby for those planning a multi-day visit. The site is non-reservable and operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
