About This Access Site
**Location & Access:** Bowstring Lake Landing is located on the southern shore of the 9,528-acre Bowstring Lake, approximately 14 miles northwest of Deer River off Highway 6 and County Road 14. The site features a concrete boat ramp providing straightforward access to this large, popular fishing destination. As one of three public access points around the lake, this south-end location is noted for having one of the most modern launch facilities available.

**Boating & Paddling:** Bowstring Lake's substantial size (over 9,000 acres) makes it suitable for kayaks, canoes, and larger recreational boats, though paddlers should be prepared for the conditions of a large open-water lake. The lake is well-known for walleye, bass, crappie, and panfish, making it a popular fishing destination. With multiple access ramps around the lake's perimeter, you have flexibility in planning your route. The area is non-reservable and no fees are mentioned, making it a convenient public access point.

**Nearby Amenities:** Paddlers looking to extend their trip can find reservable camping at Cut Foot Sioux Campground or Winnie Dam Campground (both within 10 miles). The Mississippi River Headwaters area and Winnibigosh Lake offer additional nearby recreation opportunities in this scenic northeastern Minnesota region.
