About This Access Site
**Location & Access:** Bowstring Landing is located on the northwest shore of 9,528-acre Bowstring Lake, approximately 23 miles west of Marcell near Itasca County Highway 35. The facility features a boat ramp (sources indicate both gravel and concrete options) providing direct access to the lake. This is a non-reservable, public facility open year-round.

**Boating & Fishing:** The large lake offers excellent fishing opportunities, with walleye, northern pike, perch, and panfish populations. Paddlers and boaters should note that walleye are concentrated along the eastern and western shorelines, particularly along the east shore from the northeast access point to Grouse Bay through mid-summer. The lake's substantial size makes it suitable for various watercraft, from kayaks and canoes to motorized boats.

**Nearby Recreation:** The area provides access to broader recreational opportunities in the region, including proximity to the Mississippi River Headwaters and Winnibigosh Lake. Plan accordingly for a full day of paddling or fishing on this expansive water body.
