The Boxhorn boat ramp provides public access to Big Muskego Lake, a 2,194-acre lake in Muskego, Waukesha County. Located at S90W13976 Boxhorn Drive, this launch facility offers a convenient entry point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. The site features improved launching infrastructure thanks to DNR Waterways Commission funding, with a recently completed dock and dredged launch area that provides excellent water access. The lake has a maximum depth of 23 feet and supports panfish, largemouth bass, and northern pike.
The Boxhorn access site includes at least 25 trailer parking stalls and portable toilet facilities, making it suitable for a full day of paddling or boating. There are no on-site attendants at Boxhorn, so plan accordingly. For those seeking amenities like staffed facilities and restrooms, the nearby Idle Isle Park offers full services with launching fees based on watercraft size (boats under 20 feet: $11). The lake provides multiple public access points, giving paddlers flexibility in their launch locations.
