Boy Scout Crossing #2 provides boat-in access to the Pond River in the Peabody Wildlife Management Area near Paradise in Ohio County, Kentucky. This access point is one of the primary launch locations for exploring the river and the newly expanded wildlife management area. The site is particularly popular for anglers targeting white bass during the spring run in early April, and paddlers will find the surrounding wetlands and sloughs attractive for wildlife viewing, including opportunities to spot bald eagles that nest in the area.
When planning your visit, be aware that interior access to the WMA is still developing, with improvements to parking, signage, and facilities ongoing. Parking is limited to designated areas and maintained roads—do not block gates or access roads. All watercraft should observe the 100-yard safety zone around boat ramps where firearms discharge is prohibited during hunting seasons. For current conditions, access details, and any updates to facilities, contact Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Resources at 1-800-858-1549 or check their official website and social media pages.
