Bradford Landing provides convenient public access to the Pawcatuck River in Westerly, featuring a concrete slab boat ramp with ample parking for vehicles and trailers. This is an excellent put-in or take-out point for paddling trips on the upper and middle sections of the river, accommodating both hand-carried boats (kayaks and canoes) and small trailered motorboats.
The landing serves as a popular hub for paddlers exploring the Pawcatuck River corridor. Paddlers can put in here and travel downriver toward Burdickville (approximately 2-3 miles) or continue further to Potter Hill Mill (about 7.5 miles downstream). The site is also used as a take-out point for those paddling down from Shannock Falls upstream. Note that a broken dam at Burdickville requires portaging or can be run at high water levels—plan accordingly based on conditions.
The location provides good access to explore the scenic Pawcatuck River and its proximity to the John H. Chafee National Wildlife Refuge makes it a gateway to important coastal habitat areas.
