About This Access Site
Located on Kankakee Street in Braceville, Illinois, Braidwood Lake offers a concrete boat ramp suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters. The ramp provides good access to this warm-water lake with approximately 35 parking spaces available for vehicles and trailers. The lake features diverse wildlife and open shoreline areas suitable for both paddling and bank fishing, though access to interior islands is prohibited.

Paddlers should note that boats under 14 feet are not recommended for this location, suggesting the lake may have steep drop-offs, rock piles, and other underwater hazards. The area currently has minimal facilities, though future improvements are planned to include paved access roads, additional boat launches, and restroom facilities. This is a solid destination for recreational paddling and fishing in northeastern Illinois, located near the expansive Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie for additional outdoor recreation opportunities.
