About This Access Site
Located 15 miles north of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Brantley Lake State Park offers a convenient access point to Brantley Lake on the Pecos River. The park features two boat ramps with adjacent docking facilities, including multiple floating docks to accommodate various vessel types. This is a well-developed facility suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters, with jet skiing permitted on the water.

The park provides excellent amenities for both day-use and extended visits, including a sandy swimming beach, picnic areas, hiking trails, and a visitor center. Overnight accommodations range from full-hookup RV campsites to primitive camping at Rocky Bay. The site includes restrooms with showers and an RV dump station. A weather station on-site provides current wind speed, temperature, and direction data—useful information for paddlers planning their time on the water.

This is an ideal launch point for exploring Brantley Lake and the Pecos River system. The developed infrastructure makes it accessible for paddlers of varying experience levels, while the surrounding area offers additional recreational opportunities including bird watching and hiking trails through the Chihuahuan Desert landscape.
