Brooks Slough offers a convenient concrete boat ramp for paddlers and boaters in the scenic Skamokawa Valley of southwestern Washington. Located on SR 4 about one mile east of Skamokawa, the access point is found by turning left across Skamokawa Creek Bridge and heading south down Pleasant Point Road. The site is open year-round and provides a good launching point for exploring the web of waterways around the historic Skamokawa area.
This access site is ideal for kayakers and canoeists seeking calm water paddling. From Brooks Slough, paddlers can explore protected backwater areas within Brooks and Steamboat Slough, or venture out to the larger waters of the Columbia River mainstem. The nearby Lewis and Clark National Wildlife Refuge—spanning 27 miles and approximately 20 islands along the Columbia River—offers excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. Note that the site has no restroom facilities, camping, or ADA accommodations. Alternative launch options in the area include the Skamokawa Paddle Center dock and Vista Park beach.
