About This Access Site
The Browntown access site is a concrete boat ramp located on the south side of Highway 11, approximately half a mile west of Browntown in Green County. The ramp features ample off-road parking, making it convenient for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorboats. This is a popular take-out point for paddlers completing trips on the Pecatonica River.

The Pecatonica River at this location offers reliable water levels throughout most of the year, making it a dependable destination for paddling. Common put-in points upstream include County Road M near Woodford (approximately 13+ miles upstream) and Highway D/N, with various segments offering different paddling distances. The river flows through scenic terrain that includes a State Natural Area and valley ridge features, providing interesting landscape along the way.

When planning your trip, confirm current water levels and access conditions before heading out, as river conditions can vary seasonally. The concrete ramp is suitable for both hand-launching smaller craft and using trailers for larger boats.
