About This Access Site
Brule Lake straddles the Michigan-Wisconsin border near Iron River and offers convenient public access via boat ramp for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. The access site features amenities including park benches, a playground, and trails along an extensive riparian forest restoration area. Note that **access permits are required for boat launching and ice fishing**, though other recreational activities are free.

The lake itself provides excellent fishing opportunities with good species variety. Two boat ramps serve the lake—one on the north end and one on the south end—giving paddlers flexibility depending on where they plan to explore. To reach the main access site from Watersmeet, Michigan, take US 2 east for 28 miles, turn south on M-73 for approximately 0.75 miles, then right (west) on Lake Ottawa Road for 7.5 miles, and finally left on West Brule Road.

Several campgrounds are located within 10 miles, including Kentuck Lake Campground, Lake Ottawa Campground, and Spectacle Lake Campground (Wisconsin), all offering reservations for trip planning.
