Buck Lake

Buck Lake is a 492-acre lake in north-central Minnesota offering public access via a concrete boat ramp on the southwest shore near Burtrum. The lake reaches a maximum depth of 31 feet and provides a moderate-sized paddling destination for kayakers and canoeists. Note that this is an unimproved launch area with **limited daily permits** (typically two per day), so advance reservations are required—plan to book at least 48 hours ahead before 6 a.m.

The ramp is located in a scenic area suitable for recreational paddling and fishing. With 180 littoral acres, the lake offers decent exploration opportunities for day trips and is known for walleye fishing. Given the permit restrictions, this site works best for planned outings rather than spontaneous launches. Arrive early to secure your spot, and be prepared for typical Minnesota lake conditions.
