About This Access Site
The Buckingham Access Area is a free, public boat ramp owned and maintained by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, located off Hancock Highway 191 north of Equinunk in Wayne County. The paved ramp accommodates various watercraft and is ideal for launching kayaks, canoes, and non-motorized boats. The facility includes a medium-sized parking lot (approximately 25 vehicles), seasonal portable restrooms (Memorial Day through Labor Day), mooring, and trash disposal. Please note that motorized boats are not permitted to launch from this access. Pets must be kept on a leash.

The Delaware River at this location is a major waterway with an average flow of over 30,000 cubic feet per second and considerable size—it's the 8th-order stream that eventually drains 13,521 square miles to the ocean. Paddlers should expect a river with moderate current (averaging 3.11 feet/second) and moderate gradient (2.7 feet/mile). This access point offers a good launching location for exploring this section of the scenic Upper Delaware, popular for day paddles and multi-day canoe trips. The ramp is closed from 10 PM to 5 AM.
