About This Access Site
Bucks Harbor in Machiasport offers a well-protected deep-water harbor ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and boaters seeking a scenic Maine cruising destination. The boat ramp is accessed via an access road next to the Bucksport Verona bridge off Route 1. From the water, navigate to the red and white buoy EG (approximately N44 19.217 W68 44.565) and head north for about 0.7 miles to reach the harbor opening. The harbor is known for its pristine, peaceful conditions and is a popular stop for those exploring Penobscot Bay.

Bucks Harbor Marina, open seasonally (Memorial Day to Indigenous People's Day), provides excellent facilities for boaters, including over 30 heavy-duty transient moorings, fuel (non-ethanol available), water, pumpout service, restrooms, showers, laundry, WiFi, and phone access. The marina can accommodate vessels up to 70 feet in length. Approximately 30 additional privately-owned moorings are also available throughout the harbor, with depth restrictions noted on outer moorings (35-foot maximum) and northern moorings (40-foot maximum).

The site's proximity to Cross Island National Wildlife Refuge and other natural areas in the region makes it an excellent base for exploring Washington County's coastal waters and recreational opportunities.
