About This Access Site
Burnt Village County Park is a well-maintained access point on the lower Bark River, located on County Highway N at the bridge in Fort Atkinson. The park offers both a standard improved boat launch and a dedicated handicapped-accessible canoe/kayak launch, making it suitable for a variety of paddle craft and small boats. A gravel parking area and picnic tables are available, along with seasonal restroom facilities (May-October) and trash/recycling receptacles.

This is a popular take-out point for paddlers floating the lower Bark River, with a concrete landing that provides easy egress. The landing is positioned just upstream of where the Bark meets larger waters, making it an ideal endpoint for day trips originating from upstream launches like Prince's Point. The river in this section has reportedly been cleared of snags and obstructions, and water conditions are generally suitable for recreational kayaking and canoeing. Shore fishing is also popular at this location.
