Burton Frazier is a plank road boat launch providing motorized and non-motorized access to the Tillamook River in downtown Tillamook. Located at the intersection of Burton-Fraser Road and Tillamook River Road, this is a convenient put-in for kayakers, canoeists, and drift boats exploring the Tillamook River system. The established launch infrastructure makes it suitable for various watercraft and skill levels.
The Tillamook River offers paddlers access to a productive coastal waterway in a scenic region. From this launch, you can explore tidal sections of the river as well as areas further upstream. The surrounding area provides good opportunities for wildlife viewing, with Cape Meares National Wildlife Refuge and Three Arch Rocks National Wildlife Refuge nearby, both excellent for observing seabirds and coastal wildlife. If you're planning an overnight trip, dispersed camping is available at the Derrick Road Dispersed Camping Area within 10 miles.
Before launching, check local conditions and tide tables, as the Tillamook River is tidal near this access point. This makes Burton Frazier well-suited for both day trips and multi-day paddling adventures in the northern Oregon coast region.
