About This Access Site
Bushwhacker Lake Conservation Area offers a concrete boat ramp providing direct access to 157-acre Bushwhacker Lake in southwest Missouri near Bronaugh. The lake features boat lanes connecting the ramp to deeper water, making navigation straightforward for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. With a maximum depth of 27 feet and minimal basin clearing that preserves abundant vertical cover, the lake provides good structure for exploration and fishing.

The conservation area spans 4,790 acres and includes additional paddling opportunities at nearby 29-acre Willow Lake plus three smaller ponds. Beyond water access, the site offers primitive camping, an ADA-accessible fishing dock, multiple fishing jetties, and multi-use trails. For specific boating regulations, water conditions, and current facility details, contact the Missouri Department of Conservation office in Joplin at (417) 629-3423.
