Butler Tract Lake provides a convenient public boat ramp for launching kayaks, canoes, and small motorized boats. Located within the Lone Star Lakes Park in Suffolk, Virginia, the ramp was reopened by the City of Suffolk in August 2010 after renovations.
The lake itself is a peaceful, sheltered body of water, well-suited for both paddling and motorized boating. Its calm, slow-moving waters make it an ideal spot for beginners and families to enjoy the outdoors. Anglers will find the lake stocked with a variety of freshwater fish species. While the current water levels may be low at times, the ramp generally provides good access to launch small watercraft.
Paddlers and boaters should be aware that the lake is situated within the larger Lone Star Lakes Park, which offers hiking trails, picnic areas, and other recreational amenities. Those seeking a more expansive water adventure may also want to explore the nearby Chuckatuck Creek, which connects Butler Tract Lake to the larger Nansemond River system.
