About This Access Site
Butternut Lake North is a public boat ramp located in Ashland County near the town of Butternut, providing convenient access to Butternut Lake. This 983-acre lake features a maximum depth of 32 feet and offers a solid fishing destination with populations of musky, panfish, largemouth and smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleye, and sturgeon. The lake's water clarity is low, so visibility may be limited for underwater navigation.

This publicly-owned access site is suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters launching onto the lake. The ramp location provides a straightforward entry point for exploring the lake's recreational opportunities. As with all Wisconsin public boat landings, paddlers should plan accordingly for weather conditions and water levels. Check with local authorities or the Wisconsin DNR for current conditions, any access restrictions, and parking availability before your visit.
