About This Access Site
Byron South provides public boat ramp access to Lake Byron-Foster Creek near Huron in Beadle County. This facility offers a convenient launching point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboat operators exploring the lake system. Note that water levels can fluctuate significantly—current conditions may place the water surface approximately 8 feet below the ramp bottom, so check conditions before your visit. A South Dakota park entrance license is required to use this access site.

The area also provides opportunities to explore nearby recreational resources, including James Diversion Reservoir located about 17 miles north on the James River. Byron Bible Camp is located in the vicinity, so expect some shared-use activity during season. Before launching, verify current water levels and access conditions, as lake levels can vary considerably throughout the year.
