Calhoun Falls State Park offers a single-lane paved boat ramp providing access to Lake Richard B. Russell, one of South Carolina's largest and least-developed reservoirs. The facility includes paved parking for approximately 20 vehicles with trailers, making it suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorized boats. Located south of Calhoun Falls near the Richard B. Russell Dam, this access point gives paddlers entry to a sprawling impoundment on the Savannah River with numerous pine-covered points and coves to explore.
The park itself is a multi-use recreation area offering amenities beyond water access, including camping, picnicking, fishing, and hiking trails. The vault restroom facilities and developed infrastructure make this a convenient base for day trips or extended paddling excursions on the lake. Given its position as one of the state's larger reservoirs with relatively low development, the area offers good opportunities for paddlers seeking open water and scenic exploration.
