Lake Marion is a substantial 90,000-acre impoundment spanning multiple counties (Berkeley, Calhoun, Clarendon, Orangeburg, and Sumter) with 511 miles of shoreline. With an average depth of 13 feet and maximum depth near 77 feet, the lake provides diverse paddling opportunities, though paddlers should be prepared for open-water conditions on larger sections. The lake is managed by Santee Cooper and includes 16 boat ramps across the system, offering multiple access points for extended exploration.
