About This Access Site
Caney Creek Park offers boat access to Sam Rayburn Reservoir, a massive 114,000-acre lake in the Big Thicket region of East Texas. The facility features a two-lane concrete boat ramp located at the end of FM 2743 in Angelina County. A $5 day-use/boat launch fee per vehicle is required. The ramp can accommodate various boat types, though it may become unusable during periods of low water levels, so check current reservoir conditions before planning your trip.

This is a primitive, pack-in/pack-out recreation area with minimal amenities—restrooms are available, but there is no trash service or potable water on-site. Primitive camping is available for $6 per night (includes parking for up to 2 vehicles) on a first-come, first-served basis. For paddlers and anglers, Sam Rayburn Reservoir offers extensive exploration opportunities across its massive surface, with diverse wildlife and natural Big Thicket habitats. Nearby Boykin Springs Camping provides an alternative campground option within 10 miles if you prefer a reservable site.
