About This Access Site
Canyon Creek Boat Ramp provides convenient access to Dworshak Reservoir and the North Fork Clearwater River near Orofino. Located at the base of Dworshak Dam, this facility includes a boat launch, two restrooms, and primitive camping with 17 sites available. The ramp accommodates kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats looking to explore the scenic reservoir nestled in Idaho's Rocky Mountains and forested landscape. Swimming is permitted at the ramp area.

From the ramp, paddlers can access Dworshak Reservoir, a large impoundment popular for both flat-water paddling and fishing, or paddle downstream on the North Fork Clearwater River below the dam. Directions: From US Highway 12 in Orofino, take State Highway 7 west toward Dworshak Dam. After crossing the North Fork Clearwater River, follow signs directing you to the dam powerhouse area where the ramp is located. The nearby Dworshak State Park (about 3 miles north) offers additional amenities and camping options, while the surrounding region provides excellent opportunities for hiking, hunting, and wildlife viewing alongside your water-based recreation.
