About This Access Site
Caples Lake Resort offers a convenient public boat launch site for kayakers, canoeists, and other small watercraft users on the scenic Caples Lake. Located just off Highway 88 in Alpine County, California, the resort operates a boat ramp that is typically open from Memorial Day through Labor Day, providing access to the 2.5-mile long alpine lake.

The launch area features a paved ramp and a day-use area with restrooms. Parking and launch fees apply, as the resort is privately owned. Caples Lake is a reservoir managed for hydroelectric power generation, with calm, relatively protected waters well-suited for paddling and small boating. Nearby campgrounds and the Eldorado National Forest provide ample opportunities for outdoor recreation in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains surrounding the lake.
