Caplinger Mills Park

**Location & Access:** Caplinger Mills Park, located in Stockton, Cedar County, provides a public boat ramp on the Sac River. The park is part of Stockton Lake recreation area in the scenic Missouri Ozarks. Note that a bridge crossing the channel is privately owned and not accessible to the public, but the old channel remains open and passable by canoe and motorboat.

**Paddling Conditions:** The Sac River at this location typically offers manageable paddling with minimal dragging on riffles under normal water conditions. Portages are rare or unnecessary when attempting standard float lengths. However, water levels can vary seasonally—during low water periods, expect significant dragging on most riffles and possible portaging. Check current water conditions before launching, as the river's passability depends heavily on recent rainfall and flow rates.

**What to Know:** The dam below the ramp and associated bridge infrastructure are owned by the Caplinger Bridge Preservation Society. This is a non-reservable public facility suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. Plan your trip considering seasonal water levels and allow extra time if low-water conditions require portaging.
