The Captain Cook State Recreation Area in Nikiski, Alaska offers a boat ramp on the shores of Stormy Lake, a 400-acre body of water. This ramp provides easy access for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorized boats to explore the lake and surrounding forests.
The boat ramp is located on the northeast end of the lake, giving boaters a full view of the water. There is also a small, primitive, boat-accessible campground midway across the lake on the southern shore. Additional tent camping areas can be accessed by both boat and on foot around the lake.
While the tidal flats in the area may be too extensive for direct boat access, the Stormy Lake boat ramp offers a convenient launch point for paddlers and small boaters to enjoy this scenic Alaskan lake. Boaters should be aware that no fees or additional services are provided at this self-launch ramp.
