About This Access Site
**Location & Facilities**
Carbondale City Reservoir is a 135-acre lake located on the south side of Carbondale in Jackson County at Evergreen Park. The site offers a boat ramp for water access along with nearby amenities including restrooms, picnic areas, and a playground. The park is managed by the City of Carbondale and Carbondale Park District, with picnic shelter reservations available.

**Paddling Information**
This is a no-gas-motor lake, making it ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and electric motor users. Be aware that the boat launch is notably shallow, so plan your entry accordingly. The 135-acre reservoir provides a contained paddling environment suitable for recreational boating and fishing. Anglers report catching bullhead, carp, catfish, crappie, drum, and largemouth bass on the lake.

**Nearby Recreation**
The site's proximity to Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge (44,000 acres) makes this a good base for exploring the broader Jackson County water recreation area. Free parking is available, and the location is easily accessible from central Carbondale.
