Carey Lake Water Management Area offers a boat ramp access point located less than one mile east of the town of Carey in Blaine County. The facility includes a parking area but minimal amenities, making it a basic launch option for paddlers and boaters. Access is restricted to a half hour before sunrise through a half hour after sunset. Note that airboats, swamp buggies, and outboard motors larger than 40 hp are prohibited on the water.
The shallow lake and surrounding wetlands make this site particularly popular with anglers and bird watchers seeking waterfowl and shorebird viewing opportunities. Fishing is the primary recreational activity here. A vehicle permit is required to access the site, and permit holders should be aware that access is limited to the Carey Lake area only—the permit does not grant entry to other gated areas.
