About This Access Site
The Keyesport boat ramp provides access to Carlyle Lake, Illinois' largest man-made lake located about 50 miles east of St. Louis. This site is one of eleven boat ramps positioned around the 26,000-acre reservoir, offering paddlers and boaters convenient lake access in Bond County. The facility supports all vessel types, with no outboard motor size restrictions, making it suitable for kayaks, canoes, motorboats, and sailboats alike.

The surrounding area offers excellent recreational infrastructure for extended trips. Two reservable campgrounds—Boulder Campground and Coles Creek Campground—are located within 10 miles and provide overnight options. Carlyle Lake itself is well-developed for water recreation, with opportunities for camping, picnicking, fishing, hunting, and swimming throughout the area. Additional amenities at various day-use areas around the lake include picnic shelters, fish cleaning stations, and marina facilities for those needing boat storage or services.

The lake's size and diverse recreational focus make it a popular destination for all paddling skill levels. If you're planning an extended visit, consider the nearby campgrounds or explore the three additional boat ramps on the Kaskaskia River just above and below the reservoir. Check the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers St. Louis District website for current conditions and specific facility hours.
