About This Access Site
Cascade Lake is a 451-acre backcountry lake in Cook County, Minnesota, with a boat ramp located at the southeast end providing access to two first-come, first-served camping sites. This is a near-wilderness destination suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorboats, with a maximum depth of 17 feet. The lake offers a quieter paddling experience compared to more developed access points in the area.

The two backcountry campsites on Cascade Lake are accessible only by boat and include basic amenities such as fire grates, latrines, and picnic tables. Paddlers should come prepared for backcountry camping: treat or boil all water, hang food packs to prevent wildlife access, and fully extinguish fires before leaving the site. There is day-use parking available at the ramp, though facilities may be limited given the remote nature of this access point.

For kayakers specifically, this location provides a good launching point for exploring the lake's arms and reaching backcountry campsites. Nearby Two Island Lake Campground is another option within 10 miles if you prefer developed camping facilities.
