About This Access Site
Located on the Meramec River near Catawissa in Franklin County, this MDC-managed access point is situated at river mile 142.7. The boat ramp serves as a convenient put-in or take-out for paddlers exploring this section of the Meramec. **Important note:** This is a seasonal access point—it is only usable when river levels are high enough to allow water flow from the gravel pit lake where the ramp is located through to the main river channel. During low-water periods, the connection may be blocked, making access impossible.

Paddlers planning a trip should check current water conditions before visiting, as seasonal variations significantly impact accessibility. The ramp works best during spring runoff or after heavy rainfall when water levels are elevated. This location is a useful intermediate access point for multi-day Meramec River trips, sitting between Robertsville State Park (mile 136.0) and Highway F Bridge (mile 145.3). Kayakers and canoeists should be prepared for changing water conditions typical of the Meramec and plan accordingly based on recent weather and river stage reports.
