Cathedral Park provides one of the few public access points to the Willamette River in the heart of Portland. Located in the industrial Portland Harbor area, this City of Portland park is ideal for paddlers and boaters looking to explore the lower river and view eight of Portland's iconic bridges from the water. For the best launch experience, use the sandy beach to the left of the boat ramp or the adjacent floating dock rather than the ramp itself. Restrooms are available on-site.
This access point is well-suited for kayakers and canoeists exploring Portland's urban waterway, though expect to paddle past active shipping and industrial operations. Nearby wildlife viewing opportunities include osprey and Canada geese nests on transmission towers along the east bank near Oaks Bottom, and beavers are present in the area. Note that no services are provided at Portland Parks & Recreation facilities, so plan accordingly.
