About This Access Site
Cedar Canyon offers a public boat launch on Lake Meredith, a scenic reservoir nestled in the Texas Panhandle's High Plains. The access point features a comfort station with running water and flush toilets in the parking lot, making it more convenient than some nearby alternatives. To reach the ramp from Fritch, take Highway 136 east to Eagle Boulevard, turn north on Fritch Fortress Road for about 3 miles, then right on High Plains Road. Follow Sanford Yake Road and turn left at the Cedar Canyon entrance.

This location is ideal for kayakers and canoeists exploring Lake Meredith National Recreation Area, which offers excellent paddling opportunities across its 58-mile shoreline. Water levels fluctuate seasonally, so conditions and launch accessibility may vary throughout the year. The area is popular for fishing and wildlife viewing, with numerous shoreline birds visible. Note that nearby road construction may affect access to other ramps in the area, so Cedar Canyon may see increased use. Nearby campgrounds including Harbor Bay, Chimney Hollow, and Blue West are within 10 miles for multi-day trips.
