About This Access Site
Cedar Creek Boat Ramp provides access to the Catawba River in Lancaster County, SC, a major river system with significant flow and current. The Catawba is a large, powerful waterway (Stream Order 8) with an average flow of over 6,100 cubic feet per second and velocity of 5.45 feet/second, making it suitable for experienced paddlers and boaters. The area features a moderate gradient typical of the Piedmont region.

This access point serves as a launch for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters exploring the Catawba River system. Be aware that the entrance to Cedar Creek can be tricky to navigate—stay right of a gravel point when entering, and note that the channel has been affected by shifting sand and vegetation. The site includes a boat ramp and parking area. Given the river's size and current, paddlers should be prepared for moving water conditions and check current flow rates before launching. The Cedar Creek area is part of the broader Catawba Scenic River system, with additional access points and portage trails available upstream and downstream.
