About This Access Site
Cedar Creek Lake Upper is a convenient northern access point on Kentucky's newest lake, impounded in 2002 and spanning approximately 792 acres. Located off Cowan Road west of Crab Orchard near Stanford, this ramp provides paddlers and boaters easy entry to the upper portions of Cedar Creek Lake. The lake features an unusually generous 300-foot buffer zone around its shoreline, making it ideal for anglers and recreational paddlers seeking access to diverse water and scenic areas.

This is one of three public boat ramps serving Cedar Creek Lake, making it a good option if other access points are crowded. Kayakers and canoeists will find the impounded lake environment offers calm, protected paddling conditions suitable for various skill levels. The ramp provides straightforward vehicle and boat access, with the road ending directly at the launch point. Paddlers should note that Cedar Creek Lake's full 792-acre surface provides ample exploration opportunities, and the established public access around the shoreline allows for extended trips and fishing access throughout the system.
