About This Access Site
The Cedar Grove boat ramp provides easy access to Old Hickory Lake, a popular recreation destination on the Cumberland River in Gallatin, Tennessee. This free, public launch site is well-suited for kayaks, canoes, and small motorized boats.

Old Hickory Lake is a large, scenic reservoir known for its excellent fishing and boating opportunities. The lake has over 44 public boat launches along its shoreline, making it readily accessible to paddlers and power boaters. At the Cedar Grove access, there is a concrete ramp leading into the water, with ample parking available nearby. Facilities include a day-use picnic area, though no overnight camping is permitted on-site.

Boaters and paddlers should be aware that Old Hickory Lake can experience strong winds and choppy conditions, especially in the open main channel. However, the coves and inlets off the main lake provide calmer waters well-suited for kayaking and canoeing. Fishing is popular throughout the lake, with bass, crappie, and catfish among the target species. Paddlers should familiarize themselves with any navigational hazards or restricted zones before venturing out.
